Let us make our planet greener this monsoon!!

Lakshmi Taru is said to have the following benefits:
This tree consumes highest amount of Carbon Dioxide and purifies the environment and can help in reducing the heat.

It can grow on barren land and reduces or stops the soil erosion. It requires very little water to grow. India has 60 million hectares wasteland and this land can be used for growing this tree.

Its seeds can give edible oil, non edible oil and diesel. The seeds have 60 to 75% oil as against 30 to 35% in peanuts, soybean. One tree can give around 15 to 30 kg seeds and from that can get around 2.5 to 5 L oil and equal amount of oil cake, which can be used for bakery items, vegetable oils, soaps, cosmetics, bio-diesel.

It has medicinal value, can be used to treat malaria and diarrhea.

The pulp of the seeds can be used for compost or drinking juice.

The cover of the seeds can be used for making of card board.

The wood of the tree can be used to make light furniture.

Simarouba saplings are sturdy in nature and can survive under all types of terrain and soils with some depth for the roots to penetrate.

Simarouba survives under rain fed conditions with rainfall around 400 mm.

It can grow in all types of degraded soils and waste lands.

It is not grazed by cattle, goat or sheep.

It sheds large quantities of leaves, which makes soil more fertile.

It protects the soil from parching due to hot sun shine.

Its seed contains 65% edible oil.

Oilseed cake is of best NPK value.

Its fruit is also edible with sweet pulp.

All its parts have medicinal value.

It has a life of about 70 years.

Its wood is termite resistant.

It is not attacked by insects and pests.

Its long roots prevent soil erosion.
ECO-IMPACT: This eco-friendly tree with well-developed root system and with evergreen dense canopy efficiently checks soil erosion, supports soil microbial life, and improves groundwater position. Besides converting solar energy into biochemical energy all round the year, it checks overheating of the soil surface all through the year and particularly during summer. Large scale planting in the wastelands facilitates wasteland reclamation, converts the accumulated atmospheric carbon dioxide into oxygen and contributes to the reduction of green house effect/global warming.
USES: Seeds contain 60-75% oil that can be extracted by conventional methods. Each well-grown tree yields 15 to 30 Kg nut-lets equivalent to 2.5-5 Kg oil and about the same quantity of oilcake. This amounts to 1000-2000 Kg oil/ha/year (400-800 Kg/acre/year) and about the same quantity of oilcake.
The oil is largely used in the preparation of bakery products in Central America. In India too it can be used in the manufacture of vanaspati, vegetable oil and/or margarine. The oil is free from bad cholesterol.
It can be also used for industrial purposes in the manufacture of Bio-fuels, soaps, detergents, lubricants, varnishes, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals etc.
The oilcake being rich in nitrogen (8%), phosphorus (1.1%) and potash (1.2%), is good organic manure. The shells can be used in the manufacture of particleboard, activated charcoal or as fuel. The fruit pulp, rich in sugars (about 11%) can be used in the preparation of beverages.
The pulp along with leaf litter can be economically used in the manufacture of Vermi compost (about 8 tons/ha/year or 3 tons/acre/year). The bark and leaves are medicinally important. The wood is generally insect resistant and is used in the preparation of quality furniture, toys, in match industry, as pulp (in paper making) and as fuel.

Simply Google search for more information on the same
It has to be panted on a ground and not in a pot, as it grows into a big tree. The price of this sapling is only Rs. 50/-. This tree sapling is not available in most plant nurseries.

Rudra puja in the presence of Sri Sri Ravishankar

Q: Dear Guruji, what is the real meaning and importance of Rudra Pooja? And what happens to the people or the place?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
"Rudrabhishek is an ancient chanting which was downloaded from the Aakasha (space). When the ancient sages and Rishis sat in meditation, they heard, and what they heard, they started transferring to other people. The effect of Rudrabhishek is it creates positive energy and removes negative vibes. And a lot is said about the Rudrabhishek. When Rudrabishek happens nature flourishes, nature becomes joyful, happy."
And as mantras are being chanted, usually milk and water runs through the crystal, drop by drop. This is the ancient method. It is done with water or in fire as well.
What they do is they keep a fire and they put different herbs for the different chants. Or you allow a string of water to keep falling on a crystal and you listen to this chanting – this is the ancient method.
And done on Mondays it is even more special. Monday is the day of the moon and the moon and mind are connected. Mantra, mind, moon, they are all connected somewhere. So, in India, it is a tradition, they have this chanting going on in the Ashrams. So in our ashram also, every Monday, we have this.
All the five elements are used in Pooja. Pooja means honoring all the elements, born out of fullness. So, fire, water, incense sticks, fruits, flowers, rice, whatever nature has given to us, those things are used and the chanting goes on.
There is a lot of depth and meaning to it. You can go and do some research on it, more and more things will come out.
Mainly, it creates more positive ions, more so when people are meditating.
Just doing it as a ritual is not that effective because it is said that the Veda Mantrasare effective when people are awake from within; for them, these mantras have more meaning. So, they help you to go deep into meditation.

ABOUT TRYAMBAKAM HOMA

Yagya is the science of purification of the atmosphere through the agency of Holy Fire. The science and principles of Yagya have been laid down by Vedas, the divine knowledge revealed to the mankind.

Agnihotra is a simple and universally practicable form of elaborate types of yagyas. It involves following of specific simple disciplines such as preparation of cow-dung cake fire, burning of specific organic substances like raw-rice, Ghruta (cow’s ghee), twigs of medicinal herbs, chanting of Vedic mantra vibrations and use of pyramid-shaped copper vessel for making fire etc.

It is good if one can do this HOMA at night in a room where a child is sleeping. It has a good effect on the child. There are thousands of people in all continents who practice this HOMA regularly in the evening for fifteen minutes in their homes.
This process can be performed for any desirable duration of time. It can be performed from 5 minutes to hours. Some people perform Tryambkam Homa few hours per day. Some perform it collectively on each new moon and full moon days for a period of 12 or 24 hours.
Tryambakam mantra is a special Mantra given by the Vedas. It is recognized as Mahamrutyunjaya Mantra – the one that frees the self from bonds, of the unending wheel of life and death.

Guruji speaks about Navratri
Navratri means the nine nights and the new night. Creation happens in the darkness. In the womb of the mother and underneath the soil. Nine months in the womb are like nine long nights where the spirit takes human form.

Night provides rest and rejuvenation. At night the entire creation goes to sleep including the ashram night watchman. (Laughter) People working come home at night and they really celebrate, rejoice and pray. Nine nights are precious as they have subtle energy. The subtle is enriched.

There are 64 divine mother impulses which govern the subtle creation. These are responsible for restoring all earthly and spiritual benefits. They are simply part of one's awakened consciousness. These nine nights are celebrated to rekindle those divine impulses and celebrate the innermost depth of our lives.

Cleanse your body and cleanse your soul. Cleanse your body with water and your soul with knowledge and your spirit with pranayam and kriya. There is no penance higher than Pranayam. It is the greatest penance.

|| Jai Guru Dev ||

Q: We have heard that Navratri is the triumph of Sattva over Rajas and Tamas. But are not all the three Gunas equally important for life to exist? How can we favour one over the other?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: No, it is always like that. One of the three will dominate. Sattva is always there in everybody, and so is Rajas and Tamas. All the three Gunas always exist together. But what dominates is what makes the difference. If Tamo guna dominates, there is misery.
When Rajoguna dominates, there are conflicts. When Satguna dominates, there is awareness, knowledge and happiness. You should observe which is dominating, since that is what gives quality to that time.

Sankalpa means taking our consciousness to the universe, to the infinite; and then bringing the mind to the present moment, and making a wish for something that you long for in your mind. If you have some wish for somebody in your mind; a friend or family member, and if you want some of the merits (of the yagna) to go to them, then you can take a Sankalpa.

Bhanu Didi speaks about Navratri

We are all floating in the effulgence of one scintillating unseen cosmic energy called the ‘Devi’. The Devi or the Divine Mother is the womb of all creation. She is the seed of all dynamism, radiance, beauty, equanimity, peace and nourishment. She is the life force energy.

A mother has total love for her child. The Divine Mother has unconditional and unquantifiable love for Her children which includes every being in this entire creation.

During the nine nights of Navaratri, the Devi is worshipped in all Her names and forms. Names have a significance. We remember a sandalwood tree by the memory of its perfume. Each name and form of the Devi refers to a specific quality or attribute of the Divine. By remembering the form or by chanting the many names of Devi, we enliven those qualities in our consciousness and they manifest in us according to the need of the hour.

Navaratri is a journey from the outer world of names and forms to the subtle world of energies, invoked through the various yagnas, to the innermost core of our being - the Self.

You are invited for Guru Purnima

Among the 12-13 full moons in a year, the vaishakha full moon is dedicated to Buddha (his birth and enlightenment), jyeshtha full moon to mother earth and the aashadha full moon is dedicated to the memory of masters. This is Guru Purnima.
It is the day when the disciple wakes up in his fullness and in the wakefulness he can’t be but grateful. This gratitude is not of dwaita (you and me), but of advaita. It is not a river moving from somewhere to somewhere, but is the ocean moving within itself. So, gratefulness on Guru Purnima symbolizes that fullness.
The purpose of the Guru Purnima celebration is to turn back and review and see in this last one year how much one has progressed in life. For a seeker, Guru Purnima is a day of significance. It is the day to review one’s progress on the spiritual path and renew one’s determination and focus on the goal. As the full moon rises and sets, tears of gratitude arise and repose into the vastness of one’s own self.
Venue: Kohinoor Hotel, JB nagar, Andheri-E
Time:
6:00-8:00 (morning)
Date: 22nd July (Monday)
We will do guru puja, long sudarshan kriya and satsang
